DIFE welcomes applications from all prospective students. From students completing the Leaving Certificate (including LCVP & LCA) or equivalent (A Levels, GCSE’s etc.) to mature learners returning to education. We also encourage QQI Level 4 graduates or those currently unemployed to further their career prospects through a programme of study with us.
Returning to education might seem daunting, but DIFE can offer specific supports to help you transition back into education. Education is for everyone – regardless of age, with many adults now taking the opportunity to develop themselves, and their careers. Studies show that adults who return to education gain and use new skills and, as a result, become happier and more fulfilled with their daily lives.
There are many reasons why you might want to return to education:
- You might be looking to improve your employment opportunities
- You may be considering a career change.
- Regain direction and help to empower you to pursue your career goals.
- You might simply have an interest in a certain field.
- Meet new people, to socialise and learn from others.
- Learning something new stimulates your brain and can help to improve mental health and wellbeing.
Whatever your reasons for studying, DIFE will provide you with all the supports needed to transition to college life and be successful. Returning to learning can allow you to make more informed decisions about your life, career and to take control of your future.
Course Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate with 5 passes or equivalent is the standard entry requirement for all Level 5 courses. Leaving Certificate Applied or QQI Level 4 Award are also acceptable on the majority of Level 5 courses. Applicants who may not meet the standard entry requirements (e.g. mature learners etc.) for particular courses will be interviewed. A QQI Level 5 award or equivalent in a relevant subject area is the standard entry requirement for Level 6 Advanced Certificate courses.
All courses are delivered through English. In addition to the listed entry requirements, applicants whose first language is not English are required to complete and provide evidence of English language proficiency.
Whether you have attended school in Ireland, Northern Ireland, the UK or further afield, we have a programme to suit your needs. We have a wide range of suitable programmes with internationally recognised certification that will enhance both your career and further education possibilities.
DIFE welcomes applications from eligible international students. Help and advice is available for international students at every step of the application process and continues after enrolment onto your chosen programme.
