How Do I Apply?
You apply through our website. Click the “Apply Now” button in the top bar or on the homepage. The application process takes approximately 5 minutes and you will need your PPS number and email address to apply.
Note: Please ensure you have a current valid phone number and email address on your application form, as you will be notified by email/text about your interview
What type of Courses are available at DIFE?
We offer over 55 PLC courses at Level 5 and Level 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications across a variety of areas.

Does it cost anything to make an application?
Applications are free and can be made by clicking “Apply Now” in the top bar. Once you have been offered a place on your chosen course, you will have to pay an acceptance fee of to confirm that you are accepting the place.
Do I need to apply through the CAO?
No, you do not apply through the CAO for courses in DIFE. You apply through our website by clicking “Apply Now” in the top bar.
What are the entry requirement for a course in DIFE?
Applicants should have successfully completed the Leaving Certificate or equivalent (A Levels, GCSE’s, Leaving Certificate Applied or QQI Level 4 Award). The Leaving Certificate is not a requirement for mature students and appropriate experience can be considered as being equivalent to the Leaving Certificate.
A QQI Level 5 award or equivalent in a relevant subject area is the standard entry requirement for Level 6 Advanced Certificate courses.
What is the age limit for applicants?
In general, applicants must be 17 years of age to commence a programme in the college. Mature students are welcome on all our courses we value and recognise the contribution that mature students make to the college.
When will I be called for interview?
The first round of interviews are held in March. Students applying after the March interviews will be interviewed in late May and those applying after May will be interviewed in late August/early September.
How many courses will I be interviewed for?
In general, you will be interviewed for your preferred course. If you change your course choice or if your preferred course is oversubscribed in limited circumstances, you may need to complete an additional interview however in most cases your initial interview may be used to ascertain your suitability for the new course area.
I have applied for the wrong course. How can I change this?
Please contact our admissions team on 041 983 7105 and request a transfer to your preferred course. A student can only be transferred to an alternative course if there is a place available on the course at the time of the request.
When do the courses start and finish?
Courses in general, are scheduled from Monday to Friday between 9.00 and 4.30pm. Depending on your chosen course, you may be scheduled across some or all days of the week.
I am a mature student, do I need a Leaving Cert to apply?
The Leaving Certificate is not a requirement for mature students and appropriate experience can be considered as being equivalent to the Leaving Certificate.
I have received a date for my interview but can’t attend. What can I do now?
Please contact our admissions team on 041 983 7105 and request an alternative date/time for your interview. We will accommodate rescheduled interviews with the next available interview date.
How soon will I know if I got a place following my interview?
The admissions team will endeavour to confirm your place as soon after the interview date as possible. Normally, applicants will get confirmation of an offer within 7 days of their scheduled interview electronically and through the post.
How do I accept my place?
To accept you place applicants must pay their registration fee through our online admissions system. To login to our Online Admissions system accessible from on our home page on the college website. Choose Pay Fees and use the login details on your offer letter. All Course Fees must be paid in full on acceptance of course place. If you do not pay the registration fee your place is not confirmed and may be offered to the next eligible applicant.

I paid my fees but am not accepting my place. How do I get a refund?
All requests for refunds must be made by emailing email@example.com.
Please Note: No refunds will be made by DIFE after the first Friday in October of the relevant academic year.
I need to pay my fees but don’t have a credit/debit card. What can I do?
If you do not have a credit/debit card, you can purchase a pre-paid credit card to pay relevant fees. Please contact our admissions team on 041 983 7105 who can advise on the matter.
Do I need to complete Garda Vetting as part of my programme?
Garda Vetting is compulsory for all students. The Garda Vetting form is available from the Student Area on the website and should only be completed once you have completed registration.
